Fred Zander bought his first truck in 1957 and began hauling sod. The turf was harvested from pastures, rolled, carried to the truck, loaded and unloaded all by hand! In 1962 Zander Sod Co. Limited was incorporated and in 1973 the first 30 acres were seeded. Now over 1,900 acres of #1 Kentucky Bluegrass are in production, providing some of the best nursery-quality turf in the industry. Zander Sod has also become the leading bentgrass supplier to many of Ontario’s top-rated golf courses.
