LO This Week
Still time to hear Suzuki – Nov. 20

David Suzuki will speak about the importance of trees in Greening Our Cities in a public lecture presented by the Toronto chapter of LO at the John Bassett Theatre, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building. The event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased online at www.horttrades.com. Proceeds go to the Sick Kids Foundation and the Toronto Botanical Garden.

Lunch and tree planting with Suzuki – Nov. 20

Join David Suzuki for lunch and ceremonial tree planting at the Toronto Botanical Garden on November 20, when he gives input on the green industry and its future impact on the environment. Limited seating is available. Tickets can be purchased for $75, including lunch and free parking, from www.locc.ca.

Erosion and sediment control course – Nov. 27

This course is designed to provide information on the roles and responsibilities of contractors and regulatory agencies that operate in the Hamilton/Halton watersheds with regard to development and associated erosion and sediment control on construction sites. Green roof infrastructure – Dec. 2

The Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Ave., E., Toronto, will host a seminar on Green Roofs. This course will provide participants with an overview of plants and growing medium design considerations and maintenance for green roof assemblies. The course costs $499. To register, click here.
