Why choose a BCLNA-member company?![]()
You might scan the Yellow
Pages for a carpet cleaner or a rubbish removal company, and you might find
your landscape professional there too, but how do you know that the person you
call is right for your project scope or your personal style?
Perusing lists
of company names can be daunting, and those lists simply don’t have the space
to tell you what need to know.
What
does the company do, precisely? You may be thrilled with your
mow-and-blow service, but can that same gardener also install the new cedar
deck in time for your daughter’s wedding? What about the overgrown tree,
perilously close to piercing your roof in a sudden windstorm: can your
landscaper solve the problem safely, and is she insured against potential
damage?
It
is important to start with a guide of reputable landscape professionals before
you narrow down your choices. This website includes landscapers and retailers in your area
that are members of the BC Landscape & Nursery Association, a trade
organization guided by a code of ethics, and committed to upholding the BC Landscape Standard, a guide created in cooperation with British Columbia Landscape Architects.

BCLNA is also proud certify landscape and garden retail professionals as Landscape Industry Certified.
The Landscape Industry Certified program is a qualification recognized throughout North America. Created collaboratively by the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) and the American organization called Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), the Landscape Industry Certified program covers a number of specialty skills under one title. Whenever you shop for landscape services or retail garden products, look for the Landscape Industry Certified label and know that your company of choice employs one or more highly skilled, internationally recognized landscape professionals. The following three designations are most often seen in BC:
- Certified
Horticultural Technician (CHT) - Certified
Landscape Designer (CLD) - Certified
Landscape Professional (CLP)
Green for Life is one indicator of BCLNA members’ commitment to work together. Another is www.landscapebritishcolumbia.com. Use the site to find members in your area, and view member profiles containing detailed information and photos from member companies. Shop at a Green for Life garden centre, or hire a Green for Life contractor, and know you are doing business with the best.
Tools to help you
Because every job is unique and every customer has different
expectations, and every member is unique in talent and experience, the BC Landscape & Nursery can not guarantee each and every plant sold and every
garden installed by our members. Often different tastes and budgets
affect methods used and even standards, municipal codes and bylaws vary
from one city to the next. However, BCLNA highly recommends that you take advantage of the tools below to help you in the selection process.
