The Canadian government recently announced the Mandatory Isolation Support for Temporary Foreign Workers Program (MISTFWP) will be extended until April 21, 2021.
The program year started Jan. 1, 2021 and applications for 2021 will be accepted until 6 p.m. (EST) or until funding is committed.
MISTFWP provides non-repayable contributions of up to $1,500 per temporary foreign worker to employers to help assist with costs associated with the federally mandated 14-day quarantine. However, the website notes that funding may be reduced if the employer received provincial or territorial support to cover those costs.
“Please remember that some information included in updates from the federal government (e.g., Employment and Social Development Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada) or national industry organizations regarding quarantine and COVID testing procedure may not apply in B.C. because of the provincial quarantine program,” says the Western Labour Agriculture Initiative (WALI) in a release.
Applications can be made through Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.
