A special meeting of LO’s Upper Canada Chapter will include a panel discussion on apprenticeship and job training. The special event will take place on Wed., Sept. 16, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Strathcona Paper Centre’s Good Year Lounge at 16 McPherson Drive, Napanee. Guest panelists will include John O’Rourke, Employment and Training Consultant with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), Janet McQuaid of Job Connect, a representative from Loyalist College, Landscape Ontario and from the Upper Canada Chapter Education Committee and Pam McCormick from Simply Landscaping, a local employer who has had an employee complete the apprenticeship process. Panelists will discuss: What do we need to do to have the apprenticeship program up and running this winter? Qualifications required by employer for signing employees of on various skills required for on the job training. Sustainability of the apprenticeship program.
