Ottawa drives for Blooms

Landscape Ontario’s Ottawa Chapter held its first-ever Canada Blooms in Ottawa Charity Golf Tournament in support of Ronald McDonald House on August 15.

The Carleton Golf and Yacht Club in Manitock, Ont. was a treat for the 84 golfers who participated in the tournament, as the club normally caters only to its private members.

After the round, golfers and dinner guests converged in the clubhouse. Among the guests was Carol Houston, house president of Ronald McDonald House in Ottawa. She praised Landscape Ontario’s Ottawa Chapter and its members for their tremendous support and dedication over the years. Houston mentioned the Ottawa Ronald McDonald House is the envy of all of the Houses in Canada, because of the Ottawa Chapter.

The event was a great opportunity for show organizers in Ottawa to meet not only the staff of Canada Blooms Toronto, but also with feature garden builders, sponsors and general supporters of Canada Blooms in Ottawa.

Steve Barber, Canada Blooms general manager, stressed the Ottawa show “is not a show from Toronto coming to Ottawa, it is a show in Ottawa, produced by Ottawa.”

Canada Blooms in Ottawa will be held April 14-17, 2006 at Lansdowne Park.
