New plant varieties in spotlight at Canada Blooms

Consumers are always looking for the latest plant to hit the gardening scene. They can find them all in one place in 2003 – at Canada Blooms in Landscape Ontario’s New Varieties Theatre. And, they can walk away with information on the latest new plant varieties with the Landscape Trades’ premier consumer issue, its Spring 2003 Special Edition for Home Gardeners.

NEW VARIETIES THEATRE

The New Varieties Theatre sets the stage for the Hort Happening crowd on the 700 level, offering a wonderful backdrop to the number of speakers planned for the five-day show. Look to Landscape Ontario experts as they talk about architecture in the residential landscape, creating a low-maintenance garden and creating focal points in a garden. They will also spur excitement and answer questions on the latest plant introductions for 2003, some of which will be highlighted in a display garden. The garden, designed by Beth Edney of Designs by the Yard and Landscape Ontario’s Kristen McIntyre, incorporates new plant varieties introduced in 2003 and available at local garden centres this spring. Each plant will be labeled for easy identification.

LANDSCAPE TRADES SPECIAL EDITION FOR HOME GARDENERS

The Landscape Trades special edition features descriptions and colour photos of 260 of the latest in annuals, perennials, woody plants and roses. Gardeners will read about growth and flower characteristics, blooming times, as well as planting and maintenance considerations. They can also view some of the beautiful award-winning landscape retreats created by Landscape Ontario members. A list of garden centres inform gardeners on where they may pick up the latest selection of plants. This fabulous edition will be handed out with each purchase of the Canada Blooms’ show guide – at the New Varieties Theatre and throughout the show.
