Jamie Perras   Show your support for Bill 118, contact your local MPP

Bill 118, Occupiers’ Liability Amendment, proposes to reduce the notice period for slip and fall lawsuits from two years to 10 days, bringing the private sector in line with the existing standard for municipalities. The Private Member’s bill, put forward by PC MPP Norman Miller (Parry Sound – Muskoka), passed second reading at Queen’s Park on June 6, 2019. Now, public support is needed to push it through to the committee stage before it can ultimately be passed into law. Landscape Ontario is calling on members to contact their local members of provincial parliament to voice their support for this important legislation. We encourage you to call your MPP’s constituency office to ask for a face-to-face meeting, to demonstrate the seriousness of this issue. You can find your MPP’s contact information at ola.org.
