In memoriam: Dick Speare

Richard Ralph (Dick) Speare, founder of Speare Seeds in Harriston, ON, passed away in hospital on December 15, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72.

Dick will be sadly missed by his family: wife Jean, daughter Carrie Fayez and her husband Khaled, and grandchildren Mark and Caleigh Mugford, and Jordan, Sarah and Emily Fayez. He was predeceased by daughter Cathy Speare.

Family, friends, co-workers and associates in the seed industry may pay respects to Dick on December 16 at the Hardy-Lee Funeral Home in Harriston. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on December 17, at the Knox Calvin Presbyterian Church, Harriston.

Donations can be made in Dick’s memory to the Palmerston Hospital or to the London Regional Cancer Centre.
