We are receiving reports from Growers that are being visited by the Ministry of Labour. They are specifically looking at safety protocols related to COVID. One Grower received a $1,000 fine. Here is the Order received from the grower.
- There is no accommodations currently in place where the temporary help agency workers can take their breaks and eat. ORDER ISSUED
- ORDER ISSUED to ensure all workers and essential visitors complete active screening as required by the Ministry of Health.
- ORDER ISSUED for the Employer to use products that are approved by Health Canada to disinfect against Covid-19.
- There are 2 or 3 portable washrooms for the temporary help agency workers to use. It was reported that the portable washroom supplier cleans the washrooms once a week. This is not adequate cleaning duration. ORDER ISSUED
- The washrooms in the warehouse are locked and the temporary help agency workers are not permitted to use this washroom. The temporary help agency workers are required to use the portable washrooms that are located outdoors. There is no where for the temporary help agency workers to wash their hands. ORDER ISSUED.
- During a visit on Saturday, March 20, 2021, a number of workers were observed not wearing their face masks properly with their nose not covered and some workers were not wearing face masks while they were within 2 metres of another workers. ORDERS ISSUED.
- Several workers were observed wearing bandanas as source control face masks. Bandanas, scarves, neck gaiters or neck warmers are not acceptable as source control masks for the purpose of preventing Covid-19 transmission. These are usually made of thin materials, are not secured well on the face, are likely to move or slip, and are difficult to remove without contaminating the wearer. ORDER ISSUED.
- The Employer has not reported any of the cases of Covid-19 to the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development including ones that have had WSIB claims. ORDER ISSUED
