Access a new pipeline of workers this winter! Happy 2021! The GROW Team is excited to inform you that Landscape Ontario, in partnership with SkillsAdvance Ontario (SAO), funded in part by the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario, have developed and are delivering the GROW New Entrant (NE) Worker Training Program. The goal of the GROW NE Program is to provide employers with basically trained entry level workers who have the interest, knowledge and aptitude to work and pursue a career in the profession. The GROW (NE) New Entrant Worker Program provides 4 weeks of employability, soft skills, and basic technical skills development with emphasis on health & safety. Participants can select to participate in either of the two programs offered: the Landscape Installation-hardscape program or, the Landscape Installation & maintenance-softscape program. Participants from the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas (GTHA), (Durham, York, Toronto, Peel, Halton and Hamilton Region) and the Muskoka Region are enrolled in consecutive cohorts starting January 2021, so that new entry level workers are ready to be hired and start in the Spring of 2021. We are currently seeking employers from these regions who wish to interview and potentially offer two-week entry level paid placements as soon as the season starts, to program graduates, with the potential of full-time employment for right fit after. We will be hosting virtual job fairs in January, February, March 2021! Sign up for an Employer Information Session today to receive an overview of the program, registration and hiring process and learn more about the virtual job fair.
