Georgian Lakelands Chapter prepares for second annual food drive

Georgian Lakelands Chapter of Landscape Ontario, in partnership with the
Elizabeth Fry Society’s Grocery Assistance Program (GAP), is hosting the second annual
Easter Weekend “Fill a Landscape Trailer” Food Drive.

This event was a huge success last year. This year, it will take place on Sat., Apr. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at two Barrie locations, Botanix, Barrie’s Garden Centre, 375 Bayview Drive.

“It is our goal to fill two landscape trailers with food donations for Elizabeth Fry GAP on this day. If you wish to attend, we would be able to provide space for your equipment or vehicle on a first-come basis for LO members only. This is wonderful opportunity to promote Landscape Ontario and to assist a very worthy cause,” says chapter president Michael LaPorte.

The chapter is asking each LO member to drop off either equipment, or vehicle before 8:00 a.m. on Apr. 3, to be on-site for a minimum of four hours to promote Landscape Ontario to the Barrie community. The equipment or vehicle should be picked up after 4 p.m. on the same day.

Food supplies can be dropped off at the following locations from Fri., Apr. 2, to Mon., Apr. 5, at the following locations in Barrie:

Botanix, Barrie’s Garden Centre, 375 Bayview Drive

Bronze Sensations, 144 Burton Avenue

Irvine Carpet One and Decorating Centre, 514 Bayfield Street

Quiznos Subs, 649 Yonge Street

Many local elementary schools will collect food donations during the week prior to the for the Easter food drive. What Can You Do to Help? When you shopping over the Easter Weekend, we ask that you buy a bit more. GAP would be happy to receive canned goods, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, rice, baby food, baby formula, drink boxes, raisins, cereal, coffee, tea, and macaroni and cheese.
