About epic48
epic48 is Landscape Ontario’s boldest IT project. The problem with any company is that there are too many local sources of data inside the organization and keeping them all up-to-date causes problems. With epic, one contact exists once, one company exists once and all of the data attached to those contacts and companies is disbursed into other tables. With some fancy querying, you can easily get the most up-to-date information about any one contact or company without having to search the globe and email everyone changed contact information.
epic48 is web based. This means it has nothing to do with your computer, everything is online and available from any computer with Internet access. If you need to access a database record while you’re on the run, just go to www.epic48.com, log in and you can get what you need. Don’t forget to log out when you’re using a public computer.
Modules
Each component of the system has its own module which ties back to the core database.
Attendance, the start page for epic, allows staff to sign in so that everyone can easily tell who is in the office, out of the office and what people are working on. The background colour of each person’s name will change to red when they are on their voip phone
Account Preferences allows you change your epic password. This password gets you access to epic but also gives you access to the public side of epic48, The Landscape Ontario Community Centre. Down the road, this will be changed to a new method of authentication which will allow users to use this one user name and password combination to access their Gmail and access the network. Currently these other user names and passwords are maintained independently.
Contacts is the contact management suite of epic48. Allows for users to edit anything to do with any contact or company in the system.
Content allows users to quickly create content for any of the web sites. The content builder allows for file uploads, linking pages to others dynamically and much more.
Access Menu is for administrators to control who has access to each module in the system.
Awards is a fully functional program which shows all of the Awards of Excellence entries which have been submitted by users via the LOCC, generates the output for judging including slide shows and other reporting functions.
Email Campaigns allows you to create and view the status of email campaigns.
Events Billboard allows you to create an event which will be visible in the top left corner of HortTrades.com.
Fax Campaigns allows you to create and view the status of fax campaigns.
Fax Line Admin allows administrators to view/manage the fax line status.
Magazines allows you to maintain the magazine web sites, currently only LandscapeTrades.com is built with this content.
Membership Applications is where all of the applications from the membership application end up. You can view partially completed ones too. This will move into the new Membership module once more work has been done.
News & Events generates most of the content you see on HortTrades.com. This will become part of the Content module.
Payments allows you to process credit card payments for anything.
Priorities a quick way to manage priorities and share them with others.
Profiles manages member profiles, displayed on LandscapeOntario.com. This will be combined into a new Membership module in the future.
Seminars allows you to manage registration for seminars. Create new ones, generate attendance lists, generates content for web site and allows users to register at www.locc.ca.
Show Registration creates and manages trade show registration, currently under active development.
Source Book allows you to maintain the source book categories, approve people’s changes from the LOCC and generate the text for the publication.
Subscription module was was the beginnings of a subscription program. It is currently not in use as we’ve been using an outside subscription company. Future plans include sharing data with their interface.
Tickets allows you to view the tickets for people who have registered for them at the LOCC.
Update Databases is the tool for allowing the import of outside data into epic48. Currently the membership database is the main focus of this.
Web Log lets you create your own web log or blog.
Log Out lets you log out of epic.
