Canada Blooms in Ottawa calls for participants

April 2006 is the date chosen to launch the latest initiative of the Ottawa Chapter – the staging of one of the most exciting horticultural events in the region – Canada Blooms in Ottawa. And, it’s looking for participation from the industry.

Over 50 people attended the three-hour strategy and planning meeting for the event, and provided the groundwork for a series of committees responsible for all aspects of the show. Representatives from a cross-section of the industry provided insight and ideas, including Ed Lawrence and Roger van Maris of Canada Blooms: the Toronto Flower and Garden Show, educators, and representatives from various horticultural societies in Ottawa.

Now, the chapter is looking for volunteers to help bring Canada Blooms in Ottawa to fruition, whether on a committee or creating one of the fabulous feature gardens. As Tim Kearney, Canada Blooms in Ottawa chair, points out, “success of this first event is insured when you measure the collective talent of all of our industry… it is an opportunity for our industry to display the professionalism and knowledge prevalent in our region, to showcase the best in design and product, and to offer the finest educational opportunities to the gardening public.”
