Awards of Excellence recognize top landscape professionalism
TORONTO, Ont. — Talent, creativity, craftsmanship and service were acknowledged at Landscape Ontario’s 46th Awards of Excellence ceremony, held in conjunction with its Congress 2019 trade show. Over 500 landscape professionals attended the event, held at the Delta Hotel Toronto Airport. Judges presented 202 Awards in categories including Construction, Design, Maintenance, Irrigation, Lighting and Websites, as well as Special Awards.
Says Landscape Ontario executive director Tony DiGiovanni, "I look forward to the Awards, because they reflect the landscape profession’s high style, creativity and skill by highlighting stunning projects. My staff and I are also inspired every day by our members’ integrity, hard work, environmental responsibility and genuine concern for their community."
Top winners of the evening included Dutch Touch Landscaping of Orono, winner of the Dunington-Grubb Award for highest-scoring construction project. Pro-Land Landscape Construction, Brampton, received the Casey van Maris Memorial Award, recognizing highest marks for execution of unique and innovative design. The Don Salivan Memorial Award for Grounds Management was presented to Yorkshire Garden Services of Concord.
Awards of Excellence entries are judged by a panel of experts, and only those projects scoring above a threshold denoting excellence are recognized. Awards are not automatically given in each category.

Casey van Maris Memorial Award 2019
PRESENTED TO: Pro-Land Landscape Construction
In 1997 Landscape Ontario lost one of its most influential and respected members, a founder of the association — Mr. Casey van Maris. To honour his memory, Landscape Ontario has developed an award which will carry on the legacy of a great friend to the association and industry. The Casey van Maris award is given to the project awarded the highest marks for execution of unique and innovative design in landscaping.

Given to a writer or broadcaster who has consistently produced a high level of quality in the field of horticulture through his or her efforts in communication. Candidates include those who communicate to the general public or the trade on a regular basis.
