Chapter member helping food drive

Landscaping and Property Maintenance of Whitby has offered some extra help to
assist the community’s annual turkey drive. For every five baskets sponsored, LO
Durham Chapter member Tammy A. Gould of TWG Landscaping and Property will
donate a basket to a maximum of 13 additional baskets. This year’s goal is 90 baskets
and the project just over half-way there. For $35, you can buy a basket to give Christmas dinner to a
needy family in the Durham Region. The deadline is Nov. 12. Contact

participate in this worthwhile cause.

Loyalist College needs registrants for apprenticeship program

Loyalist College is planning to include a Horticultural
Apprenticeship program, conditional upon the number of registered
apprentices. Preliminary numbers indicate there are enough potential
apprentices to allow the program to proceed, but students must register
by mid-November. Fill out a pre-registration form

Save money with Safety Groups

The 2011 Safety Groups Program is set to begin a new season. Designed to promote health and safety in
the workplace, this program provides mentoring, pooling of
resources and sharing of best practices between member firms, their
sponsor and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Member
firms can receive, along with improved safety records, financial
benefits in the form of rebates from the WSIB.
The Safety Groups Program is administered by the WSIB. It has received high approval ratings from
participating members.

Steeles Ave. The LO home office is only accessible from Derry Road, on
