Upskill your team this winter

Winter may slow your operations down, but you don’t have to let that valuable time go to waste.

The Horticultural Technician Apprenticeship Program is a great way to retain and upskill your top talent during the off season. Apprentices attend the in-class portion of the training at either Algonquin, Fanshawe, Humber or Mohawk College for 12 weeks, starting in January through to the end of March.

They will come back in the spring ready to return to work with renewed excitement and new skills.

Did you know?

  • Apprentices should be eligible to collect EI while in-school.
  • Apprentices are eligible for financial incentives including training grants at the end of each in-class training semester.
  • Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship journey and exam, the apprentice will have a nationally recognized Red Seal Certification.
  • Employers may be eligible for financial incentives at the end of each in-class training semester through the Achievement Incentive Grant.

Act Now, Don’t Miss Out!

“My favourite moment in the [Apprenticeship] program was the in class training! Because I was being challenged and then getting to a point in my career where I can enjoy the fruits of my education, it was all worthwhile.”
— Apprentice Patrick DeJong
