Re: GROW Training and Development Program
 
Please accept this letter as our support of Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association (LO) who is planning on delivering the GROW program for a third year. The GROW program is designed to:

  • Attract, recruit and train new workers to the landscape and horticultural trade so they are job-ready for employers;
  • Upskill current workers to provide them with the potential to become supervisors/advance their careers;
  • Offer the ‘Employers of Choice’ aimed at companies who are motivated to develop more competitive recruitment and retention strategies.

 
The GROW program is ultimately designed to relieve the incredible workforce deficits that has forced many landscape and horticulture businesses to delay or decline work.

We are very supportive of LO’s workforce development and education initiatives including their existing professional development programs and the apprentice group sponsor program.

  • Advise on the focus of the curriculum and program.
  • Participate in the Program Advisory Committee.
  • Inform the criteria used to select training candidates/participants.
  • Register in the GROW Program Job bank and post available vacant positions.
  • Provide employment opportunities for # ____ of new worker program graduates.
  • Nominate and support some of my current workers to the Supervisory Development program.
  • Participate as a guest speaker / experiential training instructor in the program.
  • Commit to sponsoring right fit employee(s) in the Horticultural Technician 441C Apprenticeship program.
