| Labour shortage survey Please take less than 10 minutes to help government understand this important issue Hi Everyone, We just received this request from our colleagues at the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) about an opportunity to help the federal government understand our ongoing labour shortages and our position as it relates to foreign labour. Here’s the request from CNLA: The CNLA HR Committee formed the Acute Labour Shortage Working Group (ALSWG) at the beginning of the year to look into new and innovative ways to see if we can assist in addressing some of our labour issues. Last week, we had the opportunity to speak with Brian Hickey, the new Director-General with Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), along with Steven West, Director of Sector Policy, where we really grabbed their attention. Mr. Hickey has come back to us requesting more information so he can see if there is anything that he can facilitate to assist us in working toward a solution for our foreign worker needs. This is where I am requesting your help. We need to act now and provide industry feedback. This is the time to illustrate to the government our concerns with our labour shortages. The Landscape Canada Committee (LCC) and the Acute Labour Shortage Working Group are asking you to take a moment to share our survey with your landscape members and encourage them to complete it. It will take them less than 10 minutes and all information will be kept confidential. Our profession has an opportunity here to state our position on our ongoing labour shortages with the potential to have a real chance at affecting change. Please help us to collect this valuable information for us to present to the government. The survey deadline is November 5, 2021 to allow us to correlate the information into presentable information. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you, Joe Salemi, CAE |
