Landscape Ontario Together

Together We Are ONE!

In the face of incredible adversity, with the pressures of an entire industry paused, Landscape Ontario struck a task force to develop a strategy and work a deeply ambitious plan. The goal of this task force was to get the industry back to work. Road blocks, barriers, push back, and radio silence were common themes experienced by the task force in their work connecting with government to establish clarity with their “Essential Workplaces List”. The task force was ever adaptive and course corrected in daily meetings to establish a new goal, to be the very first sector to work as the economy was slowly starting to reopen.

The most amazing work came out of the individuals on this task force. As a result of their collective hard work, our profession was the first to be announced to reopen. We demonstrated that as an outdoor profession we are able to keep our teams and our clients safe while significantly contributing to Ontario’s economy.

Well, we did persevere. In light of what could have been, we know that not everyone will fully recuperate their losses from having to be closed much of April but we know that Canadians are more interested in gardening than ever before.

Landscape Ontario is Community

Whenever we talk to members about why they continue to support Landscape Ontario with their membership they often talk about what their membership has done for them personally and their business. The recurring theme with just about every conversation drives back to being part of a larger community of like minded professionals. Our own Scott Barber spent some time with some Landscape Ontario members to understand why they continue to be part of the community. Check out these interviews.

March 17, 2020 began like most workdays do for me. I made coffee for the commute up Highway 6 to Landscape Ontario’s Milton office. On the agenda that day was some editing for Landscape Trades and Landscape Ontario magazines, and prepping the weekly eNews email newsletter that would be sent out the following day. Then, everything changed. Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency, stating there was now “some evidence of community transmission” of COVID-19. Read Scott’s full blog post.
