Green Street Challenge: Events with heart!
Sponsored by Landscape Ontario and its members, National Sod Growers Association members and Come Alive Outside, the Challenges promote unstructured, outdoor play. Kids are starved for connections with nature, especially in this digital age. Join the fun in Toronto on Aug. 18, on Bloor St. east of Yonge. Last year’s event at this site was so successful it was repeated the next month; watch a time-lapse of the installation here. Contact us for all the background info you need on this great story. LO’s Denis Flanagan interviews Green Streets sparkplug Lissa Schoot Uiterkamp on AM 740 Zoomer Radio this Saturday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m. Lissa will talk about Sunday’s Challenge, and events held earlier this summer in eight other Ontario communities, as well as Calgary, Alta. If Green Street inspires a story idea, please be sure to send your readers to landscapeontario.com — for inspiration on all things green, and to connect with a pro Landscape Ontario member. It’s already time for the Ex, featuring one of Canada’s largest and most longstanding flower shows. On your visit to the CNE this year, take a little time to enjoy the entries submitted by proud, dedicated gardeners. The CNE Flower Show features so many entry categories, competition rules are 50 pages long. Bonus: the Flower Show hall is air conditioned!
