Hi Everyone ,

The City of Toronto has been reviewing their Noise bylaw over the last year.  At the public meetings there was a very vocal group calling for a leaf blower ban.

The staff at the City are not recommending a ban.  Instead they are suggesting the following:

1. Power Equipment (including Leaf Blowers) will be prohibited from 7pm to 7am on weekdays and 7pm to 9am on the weekends.

2. Golf courses and public parks are exempt

3.  The Definition of a Power Device has been amended to include any equipment used for lawn and garden maintenance (Chainsaws, Leaf Blowers, Lawn Mowers, etc.)

4. Equipment for removing snow is exempt.

On April 3rd the Economic and Community Committee will be voting on these changes.  Landscape Ontario will be supporting the recommendations however I am sure that the group calling for a leaf blower ban will be making presentations in opposition to the proposals.    It would be a good idea if you could attend the meeting.    Here is a link to the item:

I hope to see you there.
