Golden Horseshoe Chapter meeting, Nov. 3

Come out to the Golden Horseshoe Chapter’s first meeting of the season. This event will feature Rory Sheehan, a highly
sought-after speaker specializing in conversational sales. He will
teach the non-traditional sales approach to increase
the likelihood of making a sale. This event will take place at noon at the

Equipment education and golf forum, Oct. 6

The Ontario Parks Association is hosting an equipment education and golf
forum at the world-class Rattlesnake Point Golf Club. This will be a
day full of education, fresh air, and golfing! In addition to spending

Special Award nominations are open
The Special Awards program is open for nomination until Oct. 3,  at 4 p.m.
Nominations are accepted in writing; email to awards@landscapeontario.com, in 800 words or less. Include reasons for the nomination, as well as your relationship to the nominee. The Awards Program is a means of recognition for the
many volunteers and friends of the association, that have spent
countless hours working to better our great industry.

Time to join a Safety Group

The 2012 Safety Groups Program helps industry firms develop a Ministry
of Labour compliant safety program for their workplaces. Firms will
select five WSIB safety elements at the start of the year, and then
initiate or improve upon them by attending at least three compulsory
meetings. Working with other members, the initiatives are put in place
by the end of the year. Along with an improved safety record, there are
financial benefits in the form of rebates from WSIB. For more details

Highway project part of info-day on reducing
carbons


Come to Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 12, for
the latest information on carbon sequestration and pollution mitigation.
Learn how trees are a solution to carbon reduction. Part of the day
includes coordinated travel to highway greening sites at 401 and 427
intersection, a project heavily backed by Landscape Ontario. One of the
scheduled speakers is Dr. Hannah Mathers, Vineland Research and
Innovation Centre. Cost is $65 per person, and registration closes Oct.

Soupalicious is this weekend
Join Landscape Ontario and the Compost Council
of Canada for “Soupalicious Toronto 2011” this Sat. and Sun., Oct 1 and
2, at Heritage Court, Exhibition Place (north of Direct Energy Centre),
200 Princes’ Blvd. Toronto. Come sip, slurp and savour a medley of tasty
soup creations. Landscape Ontario is a proud sponsor, and staff donated
vegetables, herbs and time to the event. The event is presented by Grow
a Row, a national initiative that encourages people to grow an extra
row of food and share their harvest with those in need.

Greenbuild International Conference in Toronto
For the first time ever, Greenbuild International Conference and Expo
will hold its annual convention outside the U.S. The Metro
