Georgian Lakelands Golf Tournament, Sept. 23

Registrations are being accepted for the annual Georgian Lakelands
Chapter golf tournament. Enjoy an afternoon of golf on the links at
Horseshoe Resort, Valley Course, 1101 Horseshoe Valley Road, Barrie, and
support the Chapter. Golf Day fees ($130 per golfer) include greens fees
for 18 holes of golf, shared power cart, use of practice facilities
(including range balls), barbecue lunch, and dinner buffet with steaks
and golf tournament prizes. Registration and lunch start at 11:30 a.m.,

Ottawa golf event a big success
Thank you to all the attendees at last week’s Ottawa Chapter Golf
Tournament, in support of The Ottawa Food Bank. Your generous support of
local families in need on behalf of Landscape Ontario made the day a
success. The weather was perfect for
the 66 golfers who participated. Best foursome was the Ottawa
Brick and Stone and Permacon team. The grand door prize of a 40-inch HD TV was won by Jeff McCadden of Clintar Landscape Management. Big
thanks to volunteers Melanie Cristiano of Greenscape,
Jennifer Smith of Clintar, Sharon Urquhart of Green Unlimited and Olivia
Urquhart of Weaveworld Homes.

Waterloo Chapter baseball tournament and picnic, Sept. 11

Join the Waterloo Chapter for the annual baseball tournament, taking
place at Breslau Community Centre, 200 Woolwich St.,  Kitchener, starting
at 8 a.m. Only one team is allowed per company, and teams must
have at least eight players; two must be female. Cost is $150 per
team for the tournament and $10 per family for the picnic. For companies without enough players for a full team, we can assist in matching you with another group. For more

Fall Freeze-up, Nov. 18
Come out and enjoy a season-ending event at the 32nd Annual Waterloo
Chapter’s Fall Freeze-up dinner and dance, at the Viennese Ballroom,

Farm Guide: Farm Equipment on Highways is
an interactive tool, using a live table of contents, providing

New Landscape Industry Executive program launched

The George Morris Centre of Guelph, an ag industry think tank, is launching the Landscape Industry Executive Program, a professional business
management program developed specifically for executives, managers, and
owner-operators who want to reach a heightened level of excellence in
their businesses. It is designed for the landscape, nursery and retail
garden centre sectors in Canada. Module 1 will be offered Nov. 1-5 in Niagara Falls; space is limited to the first 20 qualified

Greenbuild International Conference in Toronto
For the first time ever, Greenbuild International Conference and Expo
will hold its annual convention outside the U.S. The Metro

Chainsaw training, Nov. 7-8

A two-day seminar on chainsaw safety meets the Ministry of Labour
requirements that all landscapers using chainsaws on the job be trained
on safe operation. Both classroom and outdoor instruction will take
place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days, at Allgreen Tree Service, 155

Attend Conversations on Design
Landscape architect Chris Clayton
will host four Wednesday evening events
entitled Four Conversations on Design. Plan to attend Oct. 5, 12, 19 and  26, at Clayton’s home near the Lawrence subway stop, a five-minute drive from the 401.
The cost to participants is only $10 per evening. The event is suitable
for recent college or university graduates, as well as young garden
designers. Each evening is likely to span about three hours.

MOL announces safety blitz

Throughout the month of October, the Ministry of Labour will conduct a
blitz on personal protective equipment such as eye, foot, head, hearing and skin protection. Join the ministry on Sept. 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.,
for a webinar about the legislative requirements regarding
personal protective equipment, and what MOL inspectors will look for
