Landscape Ontario is sponsoring three days of interactive design forums at the Royal Botanical gardens in Burlington.
Starting September 25th, Rob Plattel, a Dutch artist, designer and stylist whose hallmark is natural art, will conduct the workshops. Along with talents in both landscape and interior design, Plattel is a master florist who focuses on unique designs that place organic materials in contemporary arrangements inspired by nature.
The first forum, under the name Earth Impressions: Designing with Nature, is described as a hands-on workshop for floral designers and arrangers. The workshop will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Friday, September 26th, the workshop intended for landscape and interior design professionals begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs to 4 p.m. Natural Rhythms: Inspiration for Design lets “participants explore their creativity and work on their own plans for a site that incorporates the natural art techniques.” Discussion will include composition and combination of plants, trees, and found natural materials, exploring various gardens and their surroundings and determining what makes for a compelling garden or landscape design.
The final forum is on Sunday, September 28, from 1 to 4. It’s described as an inspiring demonstration of stunning techniques for floral design and artistry suitable for anyone interested in floral design for the home.
