Golfer could win $10,000 in Ottawa tournament

Someone could walk away from the Ottawa chapter’s July 10th golf tournament richer by $10,000.

Smith, Petrie, Carr and Scott Insurance Brokers has offered a $10,000 cash prize to the first hole-in-one hit on its sponsored hole. “A prize like this adds excitement and makes the tournament a lot of fun” says event chair Pat Charest of Permacon Group. “Our sponsors really make this a great day.”

There will be a number of other events to add a unique spin to the day. Manderley Turfgrass Products will run two contests on its sponsored hole. There’s a big prize for closest to the hole, plus a new contest “Beat the Sod Guy”. Jim Gascoigne of Manderley explains, “It’s a 50/50 contest where those who want to buy in can take an extra shot. If that shot lands closer to the hole than Jim Gascoigne’s shot, then the golfer’s name is entered into the draw. At the end of the night, a winner is drawn from those who qualified and they get 50 per cent of the money collected.” The other half of the funds will go to a charity cause for the Ottawa Chapter. Jim admits he’s an average golfer, so the odds are good for most golfers.

This event has become the Ottawa Chapter’s main social event of the season. What makes it so great is the networking. As Peter Drucker once said, “More business decisions occur over lunch and dinner than at any other time, yet no MBA courses are given on the subject.” Come enjoy some golf, lunch and dinner with the decision makers of the industry.

Sponsors are still needed, and there is still room for golfers. Contact Deana Sherif of Permacon to find out the details at 613-821-0898.
