The benefits of cooperation were clearly apparent at Landscape Ontario’s Annual General Meeting, held on Jan. 10. By working together, members of the horticultural trades have built an organization of notable reach and effectiveness.
In his report, President Bob Tubby challenged members to improve their businesses and become partners in prosperity. Treasurer Sally Harvey outlined a stable and positive picture of LO’s finances, and explained distribution of last year’s $330,000 net surplus: $145,000 each to the Horticulture Industry Development and Horticulture Centre Improvement Funds, as well as $20,000 each to the Technology and Promotion Funds. Executive director Tony DiGiovanni impressed participants with a wide-ranging summary of association initiatives and accomplishments.
All officers currently on the Executive Board will continue serving for another year. Bill Stensson has completed his term as CNLA board rep, and Gerald Boot will assume that responsibility. Diana Cassidy-Bush and Jacki Ciphery were elected to the LO Board as members at large. A motion from the floor asked for an investigation of the dues amount charged to Horticultural members.
