Application deadline April 2
Federal subsidy for summer students
Summer Career Placements is a federal government wage subsidy program that enables private, public and not-for-profit employers to
create career related summer jobs for students.
For summer 2002, private sector employers are eligible to receive a contribution of up to 50 per cent of the prevailing provincial minimum
wage rate for adults. The maximum rate of subsidy in Ontario is $3.43/hr.
The funds are available to student projects beginning between April 29 and July 22 and ending no later than August 31. The jobs must
provide 30-40 hours of work per week and must not be jobs that would be available without the funding.
The deadline for applications is April 2, 2002. The completed original application must be postmarked or “received by hand” at an HRDC
office no later than the close of business on April 2.
The program is designed to further Federal employment and social objectives so it has a number of restrictions. More detailing information
on the program and a downloadable application form is available at the HRDC National Youth site.
