Apprenticeship tax credit
The Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit is a non-refundable tax credit equal to 10 per cent of the eligible salaries and wages payable to apprentices in respect of employment after May 1, 2006. The maximum credit an employer can claim is $2,000 per year. The contract must be registered with the federal, or provincial government under an apprenticeship program in Red Seal Trade. If you are an employer, you may claim the credit on your Individual Income Tax Return, on line 412 – Investment tax credit, by filing Form T2038(IND), Investment Tax Credit (Individuals).
