SLOME: an Interactive Exploration Day, May 11
Thousands of students learn about careers in science, technology and trades at SLOME (Skills London Ottawa Middlesex Elgin), an Interactive Exploration Day held annually in May by
the Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board.
The event will take place at Agriplex, Western Fair, London. Employers and associations are invited to come out to inspire students.

WHMIS training, Apr. 28

Employers are required to provide annual WHMIS
training for their
workers. This seminar at Ottawa District Hockey Association, 1247
Kilborn Place, Ottawa, outlines the legislated requirements of this law.
Enroll your staff in this training, as they have the right to know
about hazardous products they deal with at work. For more details,

Note, firms must have WSIB coverage to attend this seminar. Cost to LO
members is $16, and for non-members it is $30. The seminar begins at 9

Upper Canada Golf Tournament, July 15

Windsor Chapter Awards of Distinction

Don’t miss your chance to be recognized for all your hard work. This
year’s Windsor Chapter Awards of Distinction entry form is now
available. The old format awarded gold, silver and bronze prizes; this year
there is the option for multiple winners in each category. In addition, four

Support Foundation and win cash
Try your
luck in the Ontario Horticultural Trade Foundation raffle, and

CNLA needs stats to help negotiations
CNLA says it is about to begin “some serious negotiations” with merchant solutions companies that process Visa, MasterCard, and debit
cards. The national association is asking members to send in their May
and June 2010 statements. “We’re trying to determine what the membership
is currently paying now, the size of the average transaction, card mix
and a few more stats to give an accurate picture to present to these
companies to help us secure the best overall rate for the membership,”
