School landscaping program hosts career fair, Dec. 9
Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic
Secondary School in Oshawa has introduced a Horticulture and
Landscaping Program, Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM). Sixteen students
are participating in the program in its first year. The school is holding a career fair on Thurs., Dec. 9, from 9  to 11 a.m. Industry
representatives interested in setting up a display for the event are invited to
contact Les Jagoda at 905-432-8470, ext. 8521, or email Les.Jagoda@dcdsb.ca. The school is located
at 316 Conant Street,
Oshawa, just off Ritson and Bloor
Streets.

Durham Chapter meeting, Feb. 1
Join

Congress looking for volunteers
This year Landscape Ontario is offering a “give a day to get a day” program at Congress,
where volunteering your time (or your staff’s time) at Congress 2011,
will get you one free day at the Conference at Congress 2012. Volunteers are needed for a number of roles, please
refer to the attached sign-up sheet for a list of all opportunities.
All sign-up sheets must be completed and returned by Fri., Dec. 17. Please send back to Helen Hassard at helen@landscapeontario.com.

Building your prosperity seminar, Dec.16
The
introductory Prosperity Partnership seminar offered at the LO
home office, 7856 Fifth Line South, Milton, on Dec. 16.,  will get you
started on to the
road of success. This program is intended to help green industry members
clarify what they excel at and what components of their business needs

Landscape Industry Certified written test, Dec. 3
At Landscape Ontario home office, Milton, written
tests in all categories of Landscape Industry Certified will take place

Grower of the Year deadline, Dec. 4
CNLA is awarding the inaugural Grower of the Year award February 2010 and the winner of the
national program will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two to the
ceremony in Vancouver, and will be entered into an international

Home Sweet Home Competition for contractors
The Home Sweet Home Competition is a new event developed by OntarioGreenSpec.ca, with the help of over 30 green building practitioners, producers and academics acting as advisers and judges. Home Sweet Home consists of two categories: The Home Sweet Home Competition, which awards
builders, contractors, and/or individuals, and the Home Sweet Home Student Challenge
which awards Ontario’s post-secondary students. The new
OntarioGreenSpec.ca Home Sweet Home Competition is open and accepting
