School landscaping program hosts career fair, Dec. 9
Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic
Secondary School in Oshawa has introduced a Horticulture and
Landscaping Program, Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM). Sixteen students
are participating in the program in its first year. The school is holding a career fair on Thurs., Dec. 9, from 9  to 11 a.m. Industry
representatives interested in setting up a display for the event are invited to

at 316 Conant Street,
Oshawa, just off Ritson and Bloor

Permaculture and edible landscape promotion, Dec. 2
LO member Sean James of Fern Ridge Landscaping will promote the benefits of Urban Permaculture, and help launch the Permaculture and Edible Landscape Club at Whole Foods Market, 301 Cornwall Rd., Oakville, on Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. Sean will talk about the principles and applications of Urban Permaculture. Sean is a member of the
Milton and District Horticulture Society and graduate of the Niagara Parks

Parks and landscaping equipment safety operations
workshop

Working safely in a municipal
environment requires an understanding of the tasks and equipment. At the workshop,
from Dec. 13 to 16, participants will be introduced to industry best practices
and skills required for safe operation of small and large equipment. It takes
place at Gale Centre Arena, 4171
Fourth Avenue, Niagara Falls.

In memoriam

Landscape
Ontario
member Charles Stumpf died peacefully
at home on Tues., Nov. 16, in his 52nd year, after a courageous battle with
cancer. He was surrounded by his wife Michelle and children, Ian,
Katherine and Sabrina. Charles and his brother Michael operated two successful
businesses in London, Springbank Garden Centre and
Land of Software. The funeral service took place
at the Westview Funeral Chapel on Nov. 20.
