Don’t Throw Those Fall Leaves Away:

As temperatures drop so will the leaves from the trees in your yard: rather than rake them up and haul them out to the curb for pickup, I suggest that you run over them with your lawn mower set on its’ highest setting to ‘mulch’ them and rake the excess onto your garden beds.  Earth worms will pull the leaves down into the soil next spring, converting them into nitrogen rich worm castings as they go. This will save you time, money [the cost of the bags] and benefit your garden in a big way. Listen to the Green File with Mark Cullen on 680 News or check out Mark’s Blog at www.markcullen.com and join Mark and daughter Heather at Canada Blooms on Saturday, March 19.
