Gro-Bark began operations in 1981 as a supplier of pine bark to nursery growers in Ontario, Canada. The founder, Jim McKague, an entrepreneur and a visionary, was the first to offer Ontario growers Composted Pine Mulch (CPM) as a soil component for container production. Under the guidance of Bill McKague since 1987, Gro-Bark has graduated from “mining” waste bark piles to operating three bark processing sites in Northern Ontario.
In 1996 Gro-Bark combined forces with Scott’s Composting Farm in Milton, Ontario. The Milton site is licensed by the M.O.E.E. to produce a high grade compost from various organic wastes. At Milton, we also produce bark-based potting mixes for Ontario’s best growers.
Our quality products include compost, specialty soils, growing media and mulches.
